Glossier Launched Its New Hand Cream With COVID-19 Donation | Teen Vogue
Every Glossier launch has its own unique buzz and thought their latest product drop comes during a global pandemic, the excitement from Glossier enthusiasts remain high. On Thursday, April 23, the brand launched perhaps what it’s now its most timely product: Hand cream.
In true Glossier fashion, the brand launched its new products with its community in mind. Last week, when the formula, which is reportedly the result of more than two years of development, was announced, Glossier also revealed it’d be donating the first 10,000 units available to the hands that currently need it the most, healthcare professionals in the U.S.
But that’s not the only thing the company has taken into account and adapted to these times. Per a release, Glossier “wanted to make a something that inspired connection in the same way they’ve seen Balm Dotcom does — something displayed on your desk and shared with coworkers, carried in your bag and doled out to friends, or that strikes up a conversation with a stranger on the train.” Given our current distancing situation, these particular examples are not bound to happen any time soon. You might not be able to spot Glossier’s signature pink pouches out and about right now, but that doesn’t mean the community-building spirit has been lost. To adapt to these unprecedented times, Glossier tapped the likes of artist Christine Sun Kim, photographer Suzanne Saroff, and photographers Tayna and Zhenya Posternak to shoot the campaign and bring Hand Cream to life — all the while keeping the Glossier community in mind.
Now, if the stunning imagery and the worthy cause isn’t enough to convince you to get your own Hand Cream, then let me tell you about the actual product because, needless to say, I’ll definitely be adding it to our best Glossier products roundup. Starting with its very own packaging, which is not only stunning but also recyclable. I’m obsessed with how it looks and it opens up like a lighter. The first thing you notice is that the packaging itself smells like Glossier’s perfume. It’s basically as their press release stated, “Glossier You reimagined for hands.”
When you apply the product, however, the scent isn’t overbearing and, in seconds, the nutrient-rich formula (complete with ingredients like Meadowfoam Seed Oil, Coconut Fruit Extract, Echinacea Extract, and Rosemary extract) absorbs quickly and soothes your skin. Overall, you can tell a lot of careful consideration has been placed in the making and marketing of this product.
You can get your hands on Hand Cream on Glossier’s site for $18. Additionally, the product will also be sold as part of a limited-edition “Comfort Collection” set, which also includes the Priming Moisturizer Rich and Bubblewrap, retailing for $65.
